Change in Plans for Aug. 4 Worship

"Simple Service" and Serving in the Aftermath of the Storm

Because of the widespread damage from the storm, which significantly impacted Valley attenders and many others in our neighborhoods, we're changing the plan for Sunday morning, August 4.

We will still gather for worship at 10 a.m. at Henry James. But we will have a "simple service" with minimal set-up and tear-down. After a 45-minute service, we're encouraging everyone who is available to join forces and go help with clean-up at homes in our communities affected by the storm.

Here's what you need to know about the new plan for Sunday:

  • Worship begins at 10 a.m. at Henry James.
  • We will still have Nursery and Preschool breakouts, but elementary-age kids will stay with their families for the shortened service. There will be no Family Room.
  • As planned, Pastor Joe Funderburk will share the latest teaching in our "Faith Works" series.
  • At the conclusion of the service, around 10:45 a.m., we will organize into groups and go out to serve people in our neighborhoods affected by the storm. If you're available to help, please wear appropriate clothing for working outdoors. Bring along water and a snack, work gloves, yard tools or any equipment that might be useful in clean-up.

Pastor Mark recently preached from James about the importance of putting our faith into action. Here's an opportunity to band together as a church and serve our neighbors in an emergency situation. We hope you can join us Sunday!
