The Launch Team has been tasked with transitioning Valley Simsbury from a campus of Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon to an independent church. This marks a significant milestone as we establish our unique identity and serve our community with renewed focus.
Who's on the Launch Team?
The team, appointed by the elders of Valley Community Baptist Church ("Valley"), includes Valley Simsbury Pastor Mark Woof, Mark Marlowe, Anna Robbins, and Kevin Haskins. Mark Marlowe is a Valley Elder and Kevin Haskins is the Executive Pastor at Valley. Mark Marlowe and Anna Robbins are Valley Simsbury attenders. Since February, the team has been meeting twice a month to prepare for this transition.
WHAT ARE THE TEAM'S GOALS?
The team’s goals include creating a distinct identity, building a leadership structure by January 2025, developing a governance system, and crafting a financial and organizational plan with proto boards by June 2025.
WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW?
Branding is a crucial first step. We are collaborating with ArtSpeak Creative, specialists in church branding, to explore and define our identity, community, and message. Their expertise has been invaluable, and their recent visit to Simsbury to attend our services and interact with the community energized the team.
Progress was shared at a Valley Simsbury Congregational Meeting on June 2, providing an opportunity for the congregation to learn about the work accomplished and future steps. We invite the entire Valley Simsbury community to participate in this journey through surveys that were distributed to gather input, ensuring our vision aligns with the needs of those we serve.
